Why I Hired the Architect Who Said "I'll Find a Way"

True story inbound.

I walked around a property with an architect recently.

At the level I'm playing at they're all pretty similar. Same constraints. Same planning rules. Same rough outcome. Just different flavours of the same thing. No one's knocking down a tired house and turning it into the Empire State Building.

But I still chose him.

Not because his ideas were wildly different. Because of how he showed up. The way he carried himself. Small details: shoes, belt. That indefinable aura of cool. Brilliant eye contact. Properly present.

He wasn't claiming to be the best. He definitely wasn't the safe option.

Then he said: "Not sure we can do that. But I'll find a way."

That was it.

I didn't buy a better design. I bought more confidence in the person delivering it.

Running a clinic is no different.

Most physios at a decent level are broadly similar. We all know our stuff. We've all done the courses and we can all get people better.

So patients aren't choosing based on your rehab repertoire. They're choosing you. Your clarity. Your conviction. Whether you feel like someone worth trusting.

Patients buy into people, not products.

I give people a rough total, pounds and pence, to get them back to where they want to be. Not a per-session drip feed. A completely different conversation.

When the technical gap is small, the human gap decides everything.
